What is common in high-achievers & people-pleasers?
1. They are driven, never bored and feel useful. That’s the good part.
2. They rarely take time to #rest.
Why? It could be the adrenaline, the flow or the high-expectations from themselves. It could also be a learned behavior from a relative or manager.
I used to be both of them, working my ass off and not seeing the time (&life) passing by.
Not feeling the damaging effects of being 24h available for others, but never for myself.
Up to a point where I ended up at a company where almost everyone suffered from anxiety and (of course) no matter how positive I was the system took me as well.
Then I took 6months off in Barcelona which changed my life. I found out what I truly wanted and what I will never tolerate again. I learned to create a life to love and to rest. To keep my balance, to respect & love myself more.
And what happened last week? I just found myself #exhausted & tired to death again.
I just tricked myself: some self-care routines, being there for so many people, learning & reading like an addict.. and I just run back to the familiar feeling of doing, doing, doing. Forgot to rest, forgot to be.
The difference today:
I stop at the first sign of exhaustion and ask myself: What do I need to find back to my balance?
WHAT DO YOU NEED RIGHT NOW?
